Outer Banks 360 Video

I love the Outer Banks (OBX)!  I visit every chance I can and hope to retire there someday.  On my last visit I took a stroll on the beach in Kitty Hawk and shot video with my brand new Insta360 One X camera.  I purchased the Bullet Kit from the Apple Store the month before and shot a few things.  It took a little time getting use to editing the photos and videos.  I shot video at Carousel Park and shot some photos while looking for a new office building.  I watched a bunch of YouTube videos discussing best practices for editing a video.  My favorite is using my spinning office chair to choose the video shots.  I have a few complaints that I’m sure will be resolved:

  • Have the accessories for us to purchase (Venture case, Drifter, Remote).
  • Enable import of videos from One X camera into MacBook Pro using the USB C port.  Don’t make me upload to a Windows PC or save the video to Photos and then AirDrop to my MacBook Pro.
  • Plugins for FinalCut Pro

The video below was shot on the Insta360 One X and edited in FinalCut Pro.  I used the One X LUT without further adjustments.

Went to he office in my basement for the first time in about 2 weeks and noticed I have my drone sitting on my desk waiting for me.  Everytime I thjnk I’m going to fly, something else comes up.  Need to get out there and shoot some video.

Patches for my packs

Yesterday I received a couple of really cool patches from Death Wish Coffee Company (my new favorite).  Today I stopped at the local Scout Shop in Wilmington to pick up a few items including Badge Magic.  Now those cool patches look awesome on my backpack and day pack.

Our Scouts from BSA Troop 660 picked a new adventure for us, and they are looking forward to it.  We are heading to:

Colorado Springs for a tour of the Air Force Academy, Pikes Peak, and white water rafting.  Then it is off to the White River National Forest to complete a four day 25 mile backpack trip.

We are then camping at Canyonlands to exploring Arches National Park, Moab, and Canyonland.  We’ll follow up with a horseback ride in Monument Valley.  I plan to get up early to get a photo or time-lapse of the sunrise.  Then it’s three days at the Grand Canyon for some serious day hikes.

We will complete the trip with a visit to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, and the Capitol Reef National Park for two days.  Back to Denver and fly back home.

I still need to check with the airline if I can bring my DJI Phantom 3 Pro.  I plan to bring my GoPros with plenty of empty 32GB scares and a Jackery Giant battery charger.

Sunset at Pike Creek

Had some time tonight to fly my DJI Phantom 3 Pro (first time in months). Sunset in Pike Creek, Delaware.

Created new Facebook Profile Video Pics using FCPX

The other day I was looking for some new ideas for videos I make for my son’s Boy Scout troop, and I received an email from Pixel Film Studios about a new plug-in called ProFreez Comic for Final Cut Pro.  Well the luck of the Irish was smiling down on me, everything was 25% off for St. Patrick’s Day!  I ended up purchasing ProFreez Comic and ProFreeze Spatter.

So I created a test clip using a few selfies from my camping trips this year.  I kept the clips at 5 seconds, changed the duration of the plug-in to just a few seconds, and saved to my Photo Library.  Using my iPhone, I changed my Facebook profile to the video clips below ( I ended up keeping version 2).  The music clip is not available in Facebook profiles.
