KICK on Vinyl

In late July of 2022 I picked up a copy of KICK by INXS on vinyl. I was a huge fan of INXS back in the 80’s and 90’s and saw them in Pittsburgh, PA with one of my best friends from high-school. Although I have the album on CD and iTunes, picking up and playing the album brought back some great memories.

Replaced Batteries in my PULSE CD

Today I was listening to PULSE from Pink Floyd and was looking for my CD box. The CD box has a red blinking LED. I remember seeing the CD at the store and I knew I had to have it. PULSE is one of my favorite Pink Floyd albums and I want to purchase the vinyl version for my collection.

I replaced the two original AA batteries in the box and I was shocked it still work. The battery box would not slide out easy because the batteries swelled. The crud on the battery terminals was bad. Now I have a blinking PULSE CD box and enjoying the album on my HomePod.

Dark Side of the Moon on Vinyl

I’m on vacation this week. After a hard morning of digging out old shrubbery, I took a trip to the mall. At one of the store I found the Dark Side of the Moon album on 180 gram vinyl. Yes, I purchased it right away. Thought about it while in the checkout line, and choose to make the purchase

I was first introduced to this album back in the early 80’s when my parents purchased a stereo for my brother and I. My uncles purchased to cassettes for me; Night Moves by Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band and Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd. I enjoyed both albums. I wore out the cassette of Dark Side of the Moon and replaced it with a CD. I replaced the CD when it broke and the other CD was stolen.

Although I have another CD and the digital media of this album, I finally own a vinyl LP. The album is 180 gram heavyweight vinyl, comes with two posters and two stickers.

Yes, I’m playing the album as I write this and it is great.

Music While Driving to Remote Office

I had my iPod play all my music on shuffle on a 5 hour drive to the Virginia Beach office and several songs from the Lord of the Rings soundtrack played.  It felt like I was on a quest, carrying this new test notebook computer to test a new Active Directory (one Active Directory to rule them all).  All that was missing; my best friends, Breakfast, Second Breakfast, Elevenses, Luncheon, Afternoon Tea, Dinner, and Supper.

iPod Touch 4 Still a Great Music Player

Last week I found an old email from Apple welcoming me to my iPod touch.  This was my third Apple product I bought, and it was amazing!  It came with 32GB of storage and can play all of my games, videos, YouTube videos, and music with space to spare.  I used this as my camera on our Disney World vacation, and took it camping with me.

Last year I wiped and reset the iPod and left it on the charger for the longest time.  I had no intention of using it in my Jeep.  My music is on an SD card and I use Sirius XM or stream Apple Music when I travel.  But the last couple of days, I’ve been driving my old Subaru which does not have an SD card reader or Bluetooth.  It has a an AUX connect that works well.  So yesterday I uploaded all my music to the iPod Touch and played music on the way to work, and I’m listening a rock music playlist with some of my favorite artists including Meat Loaf, AC/DC, Van Halen, Kansas, David Bowie, David Gilmour, and Bob Seger.

My iPod Touch is still working great for music, reading email, reminders, address book, and some web sites.  Definitely one of my better purchases.
